A-K and L-Z groups are based on the last name of the youngest student in the home. Students in the same family group attend school on the same day. We hope this make it easier for parents to plan for this adjustment.

As part of our transition to the Orange Tier, students will not be in session on Tuesday, October 20th. Wednesday, 10-21, will be the first day of the alternating A-K / L-Z schedule
Blue is A-K
Pink is L-Z
Yellow is no school

Good Morning Pioneer Families, Southeast Nebraska Health Department notified us that our risk dial is now in the "orange" or moderate risk category. This signals an increase in positive cases in our area. Because of this, Nebraska City Public Schools will transition from yellow to Orange starting next week, October 19th. Please use the link below to access important communications and planning documents for this transition. The most significant change with this move to orange is that students will attend school every other day on a rotating basis. The calendar for this is in the Covid-19 Resources on our website. Additional details will be communicated by building principals directly to you.

NCPS has been impacted by Covid related situations. Numerous students and staff have tested positive or have been required to quarantine or self isolate. Any time a student or staff has had meaningful contact with someone during school or school activities you will be contacted by school personnel as soon as we become aware.
Building Principals have communicated any disruptions to the schedule and who is impacted by those changes. If you have not been notified, then we will continue to operate in the YELLOW tier for the upcoming week of October 12th -- October 16th. Any changes to a building’s schedule will come directly from the building principal. Please continue to stay informed with district and building communication as this situation may change quickly.
We continue to be vigilant in our protocols to keep students in school. We appreciate your vigilance in self monitoring and keeping your children home if they have any symptoms.

Nebraska City Public Schools will continue to operate in the YELLOW zone for the upcoming week of school, October 4th through October 8th.

On Tuesday, September 29 we received notification of a positive COVID-19 test with an individual at Northside Elementary School. Through the course of our contact tracing protocols with our local health department, it was determined "that close contacts" (people who had direct contact with the positive case) were limited to certain individuals in the building and we must continue to contact trace with the health department’s assistance. As we continue to contact trace, one classroom at Northside will not be in session Wednesday September 30 as contact tracing continues. Those students and staff directly involved have been contacted.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding during this situation.
Mark Fritch
Superintendent Nebraska City Public Schools

Nebraska City Public Schools will continue to operate in the YELLOW zone for the upcoming week of September 28th through September 30th. Reminder parent teacher conferences are Wednesday and Thursday this week. No school for student on Thursday.

Nebraska City Elementary Families!
We are excited to kick off our Pioneers on the Move Fun Run fundraiser on Monday, October 12. Our goal is to raise $20,000 for outdoor classroom tables at Hayward, an indoor Rock Climbing Wall at Northside and to strengthen our school community. Our school has always relied on fundraising to provide exceptional opportunities to enhance student learning. And this year, we have more needs than we’ve ever had before, which means we need your support more than ever. We completely understand if your family is not in a position to financially support the school right now. You can still be involved by simply SHARING about our fundraiser with friends and extended family online at funrun.com. Sharing IS supporting! Just as we worked to safely begin school this year, we are also safely hosting this essential fundraiser based on our school’s current guidelines. We’ll send more details, as we get closer to our kick off.
